March 3 addition

Went for a bike ride this evening in search of the Wild Roo.  Rode and rode looking for the elusive oddity that calls Australia its home.  But alas, kilometer after kilometer, open meadow after forest clearing and no Roos to be seen.  But onward we searched.
We came across signs (literally signs) of other wild life types.
Notice the warning: crocodile attacks may cause injury or death.  It might even cause both!  :)
Sign stenciled on the pavement at the boat launch area.  As the previous sign said, do not wade into the water with your boat.
Another wild life sighting we had on our ride to seek the Roo was the "birds" that I mentioned seeing last evening.
As you can see the "birds" hanging from the tree upside down.  The birds as I said aka flying foxes were by the hundreds in the trees.  Oh yes, and the pungent odor that their "presents" made was quite fowl (play on words).
But back to our search for the Roos.  We rode and began to think that our search would be in vane as the sun began to drop out of the sky.  Thinking we were just running out of luck turned into an exciting discovery as we looked off in the distance to see a couple of the wonderful   Marsupials grazing in a meadow.
As you can see, two turned into two dozen as we got closer and closer.  There was one large male (second from the left).  He seemed to be standing sentry duty to protect the others. At one point as we approached them, many of them took off.  They were quite beautiful hopping off on their two large legs.  It was a sight to see.  Quintessential Australia!
The day and experience were complete.  We finished our ride as the Suns fading light gave way to dusk.
Wild sightings... fantastic end to the day!

  1. Ahhhhh Mike.....I am so envious of you right now. A Crocodile warning, beautiful flora & fauna and Roos!!!!!!! It can't seem to get any better. Did the Roos jump quite high or just bounce along. Sounds like you are having a blast. So envious!
