First.... Recyclery, a non profit bike center in North Chicago. Great shop and mission to get bikes to those who are in need of transportation. Thanks to Peet and Kelly for their help in getting me prepared to triage whatever can come up on the road. They instructed me in bike mechanics over a 6 week course. It will be absolutely invaluable as I pedal the 7,500 miles. They were great and made sure that I could grasp the essentials of what makes the bike tick and how to keep it ticking... well maybe not ticking as that would be bad.
Next, Tim at Village Cycle in Old Town Chicago. Thanks Tim for fitting the bike to me. He spent a bunch of time making sure that the bike would not give me any more aches and pains than the huge amount of miles will deliver. Wish I would have gone to him before I rode across the U.S., that would have been quite a bit better.
Also, thanks to the mechanics at Village Cycle for helping with all the tweaks and adjustments to bring the Green Gee up to speed.
Lastly, thanks to the crew at Full Psycle. They helped me get in shape through training, or at least as good a shape as you can be to take on this epic of an adventure. Great working with all of you!
And I almost forgot Dr. Hefferon and Margaret for putting me back together so I could make the trip. Thanks for the work, I think everything is in the right places. :)
With that, off I go on Sunday!
