There are so many things that I experience each day on this trip it is hard to put it all down. It would also wear my little finger to a numb typing it into my iPhone.
A story the guide said about the goddess of the heavens, Nut, and the god of earth, Geb comes to mind. But and Geb and Nut as you can see in this depiction below only touch each other briefly each day, at the beginning and at the end.
They had such passion for each other but the god of gods Ra was jealous of their relationship so he blew a chu between them to seperate them. Hence they can only touch each other for such a short period each day. But as I said in an earlier blog, the Egyptians tried to nurture this relationship by building solid stone oblisks from the earth, male god, to connect to the sky god, female. Hence the concept of the phalic symbol is born.
So glad you didn'thave to wait until Ethiopia to have kids throw stones at you! The sugar cane was a nice touch too.... At least you got to experience the wonders of Luxor and the valley of the Kings. Carry on blogging - we're loving it! Debra
