It was a hard push to get into Livingstone. The drivers of the cars and trucks got ever more belligerent towards us cyclists as we got closer to town. They feel we should not be on the road with them. The locals of course just get off the road when they see a vehicle coming. I got another flat as we came into Victoria Falls. It was a slow leak. I kept stopping and pumping it up since I only had a couple of kilometers left. Finally I just walked the last K as I didn't want to change the tire. I think I have gotten all the miles I'm going to get out of these Gatorskin tires. I guess over 4,000 miles isn't bad. :(
Once we got into Victoria Falls everything seemed to get more relaxed. Three days off is going to be great.
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteWhen you install new tires, suggest you also install liners, Mr Tuffy's or equivalent. Wet conditions seem to cause more .flats. Cover the overlap intersection with a bead of silicone (common caulk for kitchen and bathrooms type works fine). if you don't cover the intersection,it may cause a puncture over time.
Have fun at the falls!!

Hi Mike, enjoy your days off; you certainly have earned and deserve them! Just one I get thinking your adventure could not get any more intense that's just when you seem to amp it up! I really enjoyed reading your journal; you are an excellent narrator. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your trip
ReplyDeleteMike, I have really enjoyed your descriptions of the physical challenge... almost like being there (not quite). I really feel your pleasure of reaching your 3 day holiday in Victoria Falls!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the next 3 days off. Rest the legs, try to find a good meal, get away from people for a moment (if you can) and take a few moments for yourself. Might help rejuvenate. I understand you have a little more than a month before you are heading back to the good ole USA. Hang in there - you're almost done!
ReplyDeleteMike, Enjoy the time off, hoist a beverage, and sleep in.
