Paris - Day 1 August 8

Arrived in Paris after a fairly uneventful set of flights.  Got from Charles de Gaulle airport to the flat with no difficulty whatsoever, thanks to the wonderful directions of the flat owner.
All I can say is WOW!  This is so cool.  The flat is in a location that is magnifique!  It is so central to everything.

This is the street it is off of.

This is another view of the location from the river side:
At the top of the ramp to the right coming up from the river is the street I am on.  Not even a half a block up is the flat.

And this is Notre Dame which is only a block away.  I can hear the bells of the cathedral from my window.

And here is the little cafe where I had a three course dinner for only 18 Euros.  It was complete with a street musician playing an authentic French tune on an accordion.  It was as if they wanted to make sure I had a quintessential Parisian experience from the start of my trip.

And lastly, here is the little courtyard of the building where my flat is.

Someone recently asked if I was livin' the dream.  All I can say is YES!  This is so good it has to be a dream.  If it is, don't pinch me 'cause I don't want to wake up.

I have to go now as the missed night sleep and jet lag is beginning to invoke a forced shut down of my mental capacity.

I will see you tomorrow...   :)

  1. Tomorrow you can enjoy two more traditional Parisian traditions: watching a mime and watch the pick pockets at work (hopefully neither up close) while people watch the mime, who cannot call for the police.....

  2. Let's see how much you love the bells after a couple weeks! 😜 Your location looks 'parfait' - you'll be able to walk off the calories of all those three course meals! Debra

  3. Interesting enough is that I saw two mimes talking to each other as they finished their makeup. Rather ironic seeing mimes talking... out of character so to speak. :)

  4. Mike, I got on my bike this morning to do the same trail I've been do all summer (lame, lame, lame, I know) and I thought, "I need to check out Mike's Blog today."
So, after cleaning the double ovens and then the stovetop exhaust fan (my hands smell like latex now) I sat myself down with a cup o' caffe to see what you are up to.
Are you in jeopardy of becoming an ExPat? I'm afraid this trip might convince you.
Glad you are enjoying yourself. And yes, you continue to be the envy of all of us.
    Best,
    Pam

    2. Pam, the same is good. I miss my rides along the lake. Remember that the ride you take has the most awesome lake view that I know of. It is breathe taking and the envy of those that don't know how gorgeous it is.
On the expat issue, I did stop and pickup a real estate brochure to see prices...
