With the deal on pints and a good five days of cycling behind us we collectively accumulated glassware... :-)
As the table became a wasteland of empty glasses, the decision was made to order dinner. Alas, the waitress informed us the kitchen stopped taking orders. It was just a bit past 7 and the kitchen was closed (she really didn't say it was closed, they just stopped taking orders). The waitress apologized and said she thought we were there just for the drinking or else she would have told us. I guess our image of thirsty cyclists betrayed us. We pleaded for anything the kitchen had... leftovers, overcooked things that were ready to be discarded. We were a group of hungry cyclists after all. But the answer was still the kitchen has stopped taking orders. So a backup plan had to be put in place. What about pizza? We asked if we could have pizza delivered and eat it in the pub... No worries she said! Problem solved! She even gave us the number to the local pizza place. We ordered and ran into small town problem number two. We were told the owner of the pizza place had gone home so delivery was not possible. Things have a way of closing or slowing down in these towns at a very early time. But as with any problem... it is simply something looking for a solution. The solution of course was to send the youngest of the group to fetch the pizzas. Yes, it was quite a simple solution and we were on our way to hunger satiation.
The pub and pizza dinner was followed by Uno Dare in cabin 6. ;-)
Here is a picture of the sunset from the front seating of the pub:
